Death by “Tolerance”
How the leftists are destroying our nation from the inside

Back in the early 1970’s the Friars Club roasted Don Rickles at a stag luncheon.  I know this because a friend of mine had a pirated cassette recording of the event, filled with some of the dirtiest, nastiest jokes and insults I had ever heard from the Hollywood crowd.  They were so bad that Rickles’ retort was weak by comparison; he should have worn a clergy collar during his delivery.

In that luncheon, one famous late-night TV host claimed that although Rickles had a mean comedy act, he was actually a very friendly guy, because “queers need friends.”  The audience howled with laughter at that line, but today our society would be offended by such a joke and the comedian would immediately incur the wrath of teams of civil rights lawyers, NY Times reporters and Karens.

We used to joke about our differences in sexual preferences, race, religion and nationalities; “Blazing Saddles” covered every base in those matters in just one movie.  But now all have become weapons of division in our society.

Why did this happen?

Some power players and special interest groups, empowered by civil rights attorneys and organizations, wanted to gain influence and make money by constantly being offended and enforcing new principles of behavior on our society, strangely, under the name of tolerance. The new tolerance was intolerant of the old morals of society. I call this a march of “intolerance masquerading as tolerance.”

By the way, these new civil rights are nothing more than demands of privilege.  One of the arguments against the bill of rights is that it would provide a platform for people to claim rights that were never granted in our Constitution.  There you are.

Religion became an immediate target, especially with its rich tele-evangelists and their own moral failings.  The new tolerance mob used the Danbury Baptists letter, written by Thomas Jefferson, that cited a “wall of separation of church and state,” to drive any reference to religion out of government.  That would remove morality as well.

But, there is more separation between Thomas Jefferson and our Constitution than there is between the Constitution and churches.  Please understand that Thomas Jefferson was not a writer of our Constitution; he was our ambassador to France during the summer of 1787.  His letter, and the separation of church and state, is not part of our Constitution.  Moreover, the First Amendment is clear on religion: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

See that part about no law prohibiting the free exercise of religion?  It is ignored, isn’t it?

The new tolerance mob has developed an effective tactic of softening its wording and terminology to enable its creep into moral society.  Homosexuality has become gay; transvestite is now drag; adult entertainment is now just entertainment—how else can you get to the children?  Also notice that the new tolerance movement characterizes those who disagree with their campaigns of homosexuality as mentally ill; homophobes is the word they use.  They claim that your disagreement is a phobia, not a moral principle.

There is a great reason to fight the new tolerance mob’s encroachments into the moral character of our nation. Although their claims of tolerance and civil rights are backed up by a powerful legal and publicity apparatus, the pitfall of such public activities should be identified as the danger that it brings to our nation.  Some things should not be promoted, especially with our children.
