This week, we saw the incredible difference between the character and abilities of a businessman president, his former challenger, and the bartender who wants to replace him.
President Trump went to China with the greatest team ever assembled for an international trade visit. Elon Musk, Jensen Huang (NVIDIA), Tim Cook, (Apple), Larry Fink (Blackrock), Kelly Ortberg (Boeing), Jane Fraser (Citibank), Stephen Schwarzman (Blackstone), plus leaders from Qualcomm, Goldman Sachs, Micron, and Brian Sikes of Cargill, a global food and agriculture giant.
Trump: "I brought the 30 most powerful business leaders on the planet to these talks... and they all said yes. I didn't send the second-in-command or the vice president. I wanted the number one from each empire! Jensen Huang, Tim Cook, Elon Musk, and the other titans... the best in the world are here, right in front of you."
"They're here today to pay respect to you and to China. They come hungry to do business, invest, and create. From our side, it'll be 100% reciprocal."
It was all business and brought some incredible results; Boeing returned with orders for over two hundred 737s and 777s, with rumors that new orders could grow to over 700 aircraft. What is interesting about this is that years earlier, I read that China was building its own airliners; perhaps that has changed.
With all those airliners, they will need more fuel. Perhaps that will accelerate the solution in Iran.
NVIDIA is the world’s biggest Advanced Intelligence chipmaker; they had over $215 billion in revenue last year. This year, its value is expected to exceed $5 trillion. Its founder, Jensen Huang, was a late addition to the entourage. He flew to Alaska to join Air Force One on a refueling stop.
We all know about Apple. I’m sure that China wants to keep its iPhone manufacturing there.
After Air Force One left China, the democrat’s clown car entered the political arena. In response to this incredible China trip, former Vice President Kamala Harris was on a livestream broadcast, where she called for a “no bad idea brainstorm” for the democrat party. Her set of ideas includes the elimination of the electoral college, packing the Supreme Court with leftist justices, and admitting Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia as states in our union.
If she were to win office, she could not take her oath to the Constitution honestly. Well, she didn’t the first time either.
Even the newspaper, The Hill castigated her ideas. Remember, one of her no-bad-ideas was to select Tim Walz as her running mate.
Not to be under-done to Kamala, Alexandria Ocasio Cortez was interviewed on TV; it was disastrous. When she was asked a vital question in international relations, she showed a lack of aplomb.
“Would and should the US actually commit US troops to defend Taiwan if China were to move?”
Alexandria’s answer took over a minute to find its footing:
“Umm, you know, I think that, uh, this is such, a, you know, I think that, this is a, uh, this is of course a, uh, very long standing, um, policy of the United States…”
Now, her stammering and search for wording might mean something to you, but I once saw Barack Obama do the same thing, and the crowd cheered him, then elected him to the presidency.
By the way, I am endorsing Alexandria Ocasio Cortez as the presidential candidate for what’s left of the democrat party. Imagine her oval office antics.
On the other side of the intellectual spectrum, we have our Secretary of State Marco Rubio, when asked to explain his hope for our nation
“My hope for America is what it has always been. I think it is the hope that we all share.
“We want it to continue to be the place where anyone from anywhere can achieve anything. Where you're not limited by the circumstances of your birth, by the color of your skin, by your ethnicity, but frankly it's a place where you are able to overcome challenges and achieve your full potential. I think that should be the goal of every country in the world, but I think in the US we're not perfect. Our history is not one of perfection, but it's still better than anybody else's history. Ours is a story of perpetual improvement.
“Each generation has left the next generation of Americans freer, more prosperous, safer, and that is our goal as well. And as we come up upon this 250 year anniversary I think we have a lot to learn to be proud of in our history. It is one of perpetual and continuous improvement for each generation has done its part to bring closer to filling the vision that the founders of this country had upon its founding.”
BRAVO!
He’s Baaaack: After the Democrats suffered big political losses in two court decisions against their gerrymandering, the democrat party has gone deep into their dugout to bring out their superstar, Barack Obama.
At the outset, I must say that I have never believed that Obama was an intellectual powerhouse; I believe that he’s a regular guy who has mastered the art of reading from a teleprompter. He is very good at that.
Last week, Barack appeared for an interview with Stephen Colbert, where he said
“The White House should not be able to direct the Attorney General to go around prosecuting whoever the president wants.”
The audience cheered.
Then he borrowed a line from “The Godfather:”
The idea is that the Attorney General is the people’s lawyer, it’s not the President’s consigliere.
The audience cheered.
The Obama and Biden administrations were the worst offenders in prosecuting whoever the president wanted. President Trump is not going after political enemies; he’s going after crooks, but the leftists will not portray it as such; they will play the victim card.
Have a wonderful week!
Steve
