This is a longer newsletter, but you'll get to the point after a couple of pages.
President Trump has unleashed a team of the most competent officers in our nation’s history. In no particular order, we had Karoline Leavitt, who redefined the White House Press Secretary's competence, smiling while keeping hostile reporters within the bounds of truthful dialogue. Then we have Marco Rubio, who may be our best Secretary of State ever! Early in his duties, he went to Panama to successfully negotiate a new agreement with the country concerning its management of the canal. His work South of our border has been enhanced by his fluency in their home languages…but not in Brazil, which is Portuguese.
Earlier this week, Marco Rubio met with Portugal’s Minister of State and Foreign Affairs, Paulo Rangel, and Prime Minister Luis Montenegro. They reinforced prior agreements while Rubio pushed sales of the F-35 fighter to replace Portugal’s aging F-16s. The decision is still up in the air…if you excuse the pun.
Rubio’s speech last week in Greece is one of the finest speeches in history; I highly recommend hearing it in its entirety, but here’s a snippet:
“The thumos, as the ancient Greeks called it – the fire of passion, strength, courage, pride – is the heart of great civilization. And without it? Without it, nations lose their will to fight, the will to strive, the will to survive.Today, too much of the West has forgotten this quality. Over time, we in the West came to feel ashamed of the very things that made us exceptional. We felt embarrassed that our achievements set us apart from the rest of the world. Our prosperity somehow became a source of guilt. We no longer believed we deserved and had earned our greatness. The word “nationalism” became a dirty word. And so we tore down our monuments; we condemned our own history. And in too many places, we taught our children to be ashamed of the countries they would inherit. In the process, we opened our borders and outsourced our industry, and allowed our militaries to wither and to decay. And with every passing year, we seemed to outsource more of our sovereignty, transferring our decisions to global bureaucracies far beyond the reach of our control. But others were all too happy to fill the vacuum that we left – the vacuum left behind by our weakness. And as the West’s confidence faltered, its adversaries and its rivals only grew more assertive, building up their own wealth and their own power in our stead. And now, today, we find ourselves at a crossroads. Because the next decade and the decisions we make will write the story of the next century. The course we take will determine whether the West maintains its place at the head of the world or resigns itself to a future of atrophy and servitude and decline. We will either choose to act now or lose the choice to act at all.Under President Trump, the United States has made its choice. We choose the unapologetic pursuit of national power: to take back control of our critical supply chains, to reindustrialize our economy, to rebuild our defense, to fight for dominance of the technologies and industries of the future. We choose to reach for new frontiers: in advanced manufacturing and superintelligence; in drones, weapons, and warfare; in chips, minerals, cyber, and every other domain of human possibility. To unleash our energy, to rebuild our factories, to return our astronauts to the moon and launch a new age of exploration in space….”
In other words, let us get back to being a good nation instead of being constantly downgraded by civil lawsuits, DEI edicts, open borders, disrespect for law and its enforcement…. Etc.. But we still have these crooked politicians, which I get to after this.
Back to the all-star team: I must shine a spotlight on our Secretary of the Treasury, Scott Bessent, who recently castigated one of the biggest phonies in government, Elizabeth Warren. Here is the start of his letter:
At the end of his letter, he handwrites: “Happy Indigenous Peoples’ Day in advance to you and your family!”
I love it!
There are no finer examples of our political decay than Elizabeth Warren, Kamala Harris, and Hillary Clinton. Warren and Clinton are very smart, and just as crafty, manipulative, and dishonest. We have substantial evidence of Hillary’s dishonest dealings as she was Obama’s Secretary of State, with her private email servers and shredded cell phones. Warren’s fake Native American professorship is excused by her party, despite its blatant, obvious dishonesty. I do wonder about Harris, who may be playing dumb on purpose; obviously she knows how to manipulate people, and her simple phrasing may elicit some forgiveness from her political faithful. I first experienced that type when I was in the military. I learned to stay away from those people.
But these three know how to influence people, despite their having a track record of corruption and dishonesty. The big problem we face is getting Democrats to understand what they are actually voting for in the next election. They believe they are voting against bad Orangeman Trump, while not understanding what their party is promoting.
The democrats are acting like the good guys by using the victim/savior tactic. They have used Black Lives Matter, No ICE, and Defund the Police as a lead-up, and gotten a lot of news coverage with it. But now have gone to an extreme with the Free Palestine movement, which has invaded college campuses and is the force behind the riots in Europe. It’s international and dangerous, and it’s growing here in the United States.
James Madison wrote about the importance of educating those in political factions, which is the best path for now. I suggest enforcing the oath of office for congressmen and federal employees, and releasing the movies of the October 7 atrocities to everyone. Let these people know what they are promoting.
Make sure you vote!
Steve
